What Is Wichita Pulse?
Wichita Pulse is a local news and information platform built for Wichita, Kansas and the greater Sedgwick County metro area. We aggregate, verify, and present the information that matters most to Wichita residents — from City Council votes and building permits to new restaurant openings and weekend events.
Our flagship product, The Daily Pulse, is a free daily email newsletter delivered at 6am CT. Each edition is your daily guide to what's happening in Wichita — designed to read in under three minutes.
Our Approach
We believe in data-driven local journalism. Rather than relying solely on press releases, we pull directly from official government data sources:
- City of Wichita Open Data Portal — permits, zoning, infrastructure
- Sedgwick County GIS — property data, maps, appraisals
- Kansas Secretary of State — new business filings
- Bureau of Labor Statistics — employment, wages
- National Weather Service ICT — forecasts, alerts
- KDOT KanDrive — road conditions, construction
