Information We Collect

When you subscribe to Wichita Pulse newsletters, we collect your email address and the newsletter preferences you select. We do not collect names, payment information, or other personal details unless you provide them voluntarily (e.g., via email correspondence).

When you visit our website, we automatically collect limited usage data through privacy-respecting analytics (Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights). This may include pages viewed, approximate location (city/region from IP), referring URL, device type, and browser information. We also process technical data like IP address and user agent for security and to operate the site.

If you arrive at our site from a paid ad, the URL may include marketing parameters (such as utm_source, utm_campaign, or fbclid). We store these alongside your subscription so we can measure which campaigns reach Wichita residents.

How We Use Your Information

  • To send you the newsletters you subscribe to
  • To improve our content and user experience
  • To respond to inquiries you send us
  • To measure the effectiveness of our advertising and marketing
  • To provide anonymized, aggregate statistics to sponsors and advertisers (never individual data)

Advertising & Conversion Tracking

To grow our reader base, Wichita Pulse runs advertising campaigns on platforms like Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To measure those campaigns, our Subscribe page uses the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API. When you visit the page or complete a subscription:

  • The Meta Pixel may set cookies and send Meta information about the page view, including IP address, browser, and (if redirected from a Meta ad) a Meta click identifier.
  • When you successfully subscribe, we send Meta a Lead event server-to-server. Your email is one-way SHA-256 hashed before transmission so Meta receives a non-reversible token, not your actual address. This is solely to confirm a conversion occurred and to deduplicate against the Pixel event.

We do not upload our subscriber list to ad platforms for retargeting. Meta's processing of any data it receives is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your email address or personal information. We share information only with trusted service providers that operate the site on our behalf:

  • Supabase — stores subscriber records and content data.
  • Resend — delivers newsletter emails.
  • Vercel — hosts the site and provides analytics and performance metrics.
  • Meta Platforms — receives advertising conversion events (hashed email and event metadata) as described above, only when you arrive via or convert from a Meta-sourced campaign.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential — required for the site to function (e.g., to remember unsubscribe links).
  • Analytics — Vercel Analytics measures aggregate, anonymized site usage.
  • Advertising — the Meta Pixel may set cookies on the Subscribe page to attribute ad-driven conversions. You can disable these in your browser settings or via the opt-out tools at YourAdChoices and NAI.

Your Rights

You may unsubscribe from any Wichita Pulse newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. You may also contact us at hello@wichitapulse.com to access, correct, or delete your data. California, EU, and UK residents have additional rights under their local laws (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR/UK GDPR), including the right to opt out of the sharing described above; email us to exercise any of these rights.

Children's Privacy

Wichita Pulse is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
